Summary

I loved this book and read it for my Law of Attraction bookclub。 It was incredibly informative and took a spiritual approach to how we hold trauma and stress in our body and how it manifests itself as pain and diseases。 It was incredibly eye opening and really informative while reiterating the importance of letting go。 This book was definitely written awhile ago (1984), and you can tell while reading。 Some things I dont think aged well and her opinions on certain circumstances are not somewhat o I loved this book and read it for my Law of Attraction bookclub。 It was incredibly informative and took a spiritual approach to how we hold trauma and stress in our body and how it manifests itself as pain and diseases。 It was incredibly eye opening and really informative while reiterating the importance of letting go。 This book was definitely written awhile ago (1984), and you can tell while reading。 Some things I dont think aged well and her opinions on certain circumstances are not somewhat overdriven by concrete science。 However, her overall train of through and large themes rang true。 This is definitely the "first of the genre" and now there are several other works that communicate her theories more effectively。 I would highly recommend reading as a starting point with the loose spiritual understanding of the power of your thoughts。 While I do look forward to reading Hay's other work, I understand that for concrete data, etc。 these are not the end-all-be-all's of the genre。 。。。more

I was underwhelmed by this, especially as I actually bought it。 Now don't get me wrong, I think Louise Hay is a very inspirational woman with a powerful story to tell in her own life。 Though this book itself was very short, didn't really tell me anything new (eg。 emotional problems can cause health problems) and had some pseudosciencey tendencies。 I agree with the central premise that emotions etc can affect health but what she was going into was way too specific and unsubstantiated。 Maybe at th I was underwhelmed by this, especially as I actually bought it。 Now don't get me wrong, I think Louise Hay is a very inspirational woman with a powerful story to tell in her own life。 Though this book itself was very short, didn't really tell me anything new (eg。 emotional problems can cause health problems) and had some pseudosciencey tendencies。 I agree with the central premise that emotions etc can affect health but what she was going into was way too specific and unsubstantiated。 Maybe at the time, the link between mind and body was seen as a new concept。。。 though there is no mention of genetics, pathogens (eg viruses, bacteria), or environmental exposures as causes of health problems。 Like it is grossly oversimplified, potentially to a dangerous extent。 。。。more

I definitely have a lot of admiration for Louise Hay。 I also like the explanations of the body and ailments, and what subconscious issues effects these parts of your bodies。 That was every informative and new from what I've previously read。What I felt lacking was drive, motivation, upliftment。 I felt like it was a bit emotionless。 。。。more

This book is soothening, best heard on youtube by the writer's voice, it indicates how all good in the world starts from within by loving ourselves and opening our hearts for good things to happen for us。Although I didn't believe in the bit of curing diseases by thoughts only。。so much drama and over-exaggeration。 This book is soothening, best heard on youtube by the writer's voice, it indicates how all good in the world starts from within by loving ourselves and opening our hearts for good things to happen for us。Although I didn't believe in the bit of curing diseases by thoughts only。。so much drama and over-exaggeration。 。。。more

The content is what's most important here。 This is a book that I have highlighted, dog-eared (I know, I'm awful), and will frequently revisit。 Anyone who is interested in healing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wounds should pick this up。 All dis-eases can be traced back to stored negative energies in the body, and this book shares how to reverse the causes AND effects through self-love and -acceptance practices, using mantras and mirror work。 The writing style isn't anything special, The content is what's most important here。 This is a book that I have highlighted, dog-eared (I know, I'm awful), and will frequently revisit。 Anyone who is interested in healing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wounds should pick this up。 All dis-eases can be traced back to stored negative energies in the body, and this book shares how to reverse the causes AND effects through self-love and -acceptance practices, using mantras and mirror work。 The writing style isn't anything special, and oftentimes mechanical, but knowing Louise Hay's background and knowing it's the information that is most important, it's forgiveable。 。。。more
